A Few Administrative Updates

I have a few administrative updates I want to share.

First of all, if you haven’t noticed yet: you can now get a weekly digest email of Tungsten Hippo. Every Sunday morning, I send out an email with the book recommendation for the week, a link to the blog post (if there was one), the quote of the week, and a randomly chosen bonus book recommendation from the archives. Sign up, and never miss a book recommendation! If you prefer to follow on social media, I post my recommendations on Twitter, Facebook, Tumblr, and Pinterest, and the blog posts and quotes on Twitter, Facebook, and Tumblr. The randomly chosen bonus book recommendation is only in the weekly digest, though,

Next, I have added disclosures to my book recommendations. Each book recommendation will now say if I got the book for free (unless it was just free for anyone- I don’t keep track of that), if I wrote the book, or if I published the book. There are currently two books on this site I wrote: Taming the Work Week and Navigating the Path to Industry. I don’t have any books I've published but not written on the site yet, but I hope to add two soon. My publishing company has two books under contract, and both are in the editing stage now. I’m working my way through the archives and adding disclosures. I've added them to all of the books for which there is a disclosure, but haven’t finished adding the “none” note to all of the other books.

Finally, I’m changing how I handle collections and anthologies. I will still recommend them, but I will now post those recommendations on the first Wednesday of the month, in place of the short ebook recommendation for that week. If I don’t have a collection to recommend that month, I’ll just post a short ebook recommendation instead. I’m making this change to make sure I have time to read novels and long non-fiction books in addition to short ebooks and collections of short writing. I only post things on this site if I've read them and liked them, and I’m not a speed reader! The only exception to the “I’ve read it and liked it” rule is the blog posts- I welcome guest posts from authors who want to introduce their short ebook or collection.
